Booster pump questions from buyers and installers
How to select a pump, what to check on site, how ordering works and what happens after delivery. If your question is not covered, send it with your inquiry.
Selection
What is a permanent magnet VFD booster pump?
It is a water booster pump that uses a permanent magnet motor and a variable frequency drive (VFD) controller. The controller reads the pressure in the line and changes motor speed to hold a pressure set point, instead of running at full speed and stopping.
How do I choose the right model for my site?
Start with four values: the flow the site needs in cubic metres per hour, the head in metres or bar, the available power supply (voltage, frequency and phase) and the connection pipe size. Those figures place the duty in one of the boosting levels; send them with the selection guide and we will confirm the closest model.
What are the boosting levels, and how do they relate to applications?
Every model in the range is built for whole-house boosting, so the same pump suits household supply, rooftop tanks, villas, HVAC circuits, pool filtration and garden irrigation. The choice is set by flow and head: Level 1 covers standard whole-house duty up to 45 m head and 105 L/min, Level 2 covers 46 to 60 m head for multi-storey homes, and Level 3 covers high flow up to 500 L/min. Pipeline boosting is the separate indicator for the DC range, used for hot water areas, taps and RV pipe lines.
Single-stage or multistage - which one suits my duty?
Both structures appear in the whole-house boosting levels, so the level is chosen first and the structure second. Single-stage models suit moderate heads with high flow from a compact body, while multistage models stack impellers to reach the higher heads of Level 2 from the same footprint. Compare your duty point against the level table and the model table before deciding.
Can a booster pump draw water from a rooftop tank or a well?
Yes, where the model is suitable for suction lift. Keep the suction pipe short, fit a strainer and a non-return valve, and avoid high points that trap air. Dry-run protection is recommended so the pump stops when the water source runs empty.
Installation
Does the pump need a pressure vessel or an expansion tank?
A VFD booster controls pressure by changing speed, so it does not rely on a large pressure vessel to hold the set point the way a fixed speed pump does. A small vessel is sometimes used to smooth pressure on very low flow. The recommended arrangement is stated on the model page and confirmed in the quotation.
What causes noise or vibration after installation?
Most cases are installation related: air in the suction line, a pump mounted on a flexible or resonant surface, unsupported pipework, loose clips, or a duty point far from the design point. Our installation and noise checklist in Insights covers the usual causes in the order an installer would check them.
Is the pressure setting adjustable after installation?
Yes. The pressure set point can be set on the controller to match the site. If you tell us the pressure you want at the outlet, we confirm the setting before shipping, and the local installer can adjust it on site.
Ordering
What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?
Minimum order quantity (MOQ): 50 units in kraft-paper cartons, with your brand label available. 300 units in color boxes, with the packaging layout designed entirely to your requirements. Lead time: approximately 35 days. Power supply: all models are single-phase.
Can I order samples before a bulk order?
Yes. Buyers commonly start with one or two units to check build quality, pressure behaviour and packing before placing a volume order. Tell us the sample quantity and we will include it in the quotation.
Which certifications do the pumps carry?
Our factory quality system is certified to ISO 9001, and the product range carries CE and SGS documentation. Certificates are listed on the certificates page. Where a destination market requires additional marks, tell us the requirement with the inquiry and we will confirm what can be supplied.
Do you support OEM and ODM projects?
Yes. Customized branding, nameplates, packaging and voltage or frequency settings are handled through the OEM/ODM process. Send your artwork, the target market and the model list, and we will confirm the customization scope and the tooling or label requirements in the quotation.
Service
What support is available after delivery?
2-year warranty on all products. During the warranty period, wear parts are replaced free of charge, and a new unit is supplied in the event of a serious quality defect. A proportion of wear parts is shipped with each order, so you can service your end customers without delay. Our after-sales desk also answers installation questions, helps with settings and handles spare parts requests such as seals, controllers and impellers.
Still deciding?
